Pulling in the Wagons

Whhf did not get to go back to the Revival this last week like I wanted. Instead I got to go to the doctors and be stuck home with bronchitis. Would a suspicious spirit slow down or hinder what God wanted to do there. I don't think so but He made it work for me. I have had the opportunity for some self examination this week and know I have a lot of work to do on myself. So this Revival has called me to purity and repentance. Funny how God works these things out. What an awesome sense of humor.

This is a time honored tradition with God and me. He seems to take me quietly by the hand and ask for a one on one. I've heard a lot of people say that God does not answer them. My reply is that you have to take the time to listen. He does speak and is faithful to never leave you nor forsake you.

Revival What is it?

Revival is a call to holiness and repentance.

As I sat under the tent today I watched as a husband and wife team "ministered" to the people. Since this was the first time i'd ever gone to an old fashioned camp meeting I was excited - at first. As the husband spoke every other word was amen, praise God, & hallelujah - nothing made sense and I started zoning out. Then he turned the stage over to his wife who didn't have quite as many amens, praise God, or hallelujah's but what I witnessed left me cold. The first person she annointed fell out in the Spirit - I said OK but still sat and watched - an outright - "oh come on" rushed from my mouth as she literally pushed the next person down.

Now i'm not new to the Pentecostal faith and have been spirit filled for many many years but this is the first time I have ever seen this. God will, can, and does work in any way he needs to but I have a big problem with people trying to force the Holy Spirit.

Where is the honesty in God? Why do evangelists try to force a reaction? God will show up in His time.

I sat with my husband who was a first time visitor to a Pentecostal anything. It was a big leap of faith for him to even accompany me and I felt bad that what was presented to him was not representative of the true church. I lead the way out of the tent. His reaction "It was good until that couple started talking."

I'm planning on taking my son with me one day this week to an evening service. I wonder if it'll be different? I hope so.
